August 4 will be a National Public Holiday to mark Election Day
The relevant Ministry has appointed the 4th August 2010, as a Public Holiday as the country will mark its national election day in exercise of powers conferred by section 6 of the Public Holidays Act.
Director Civil Affairs Division Robert Fa'arodo signed the notice for the Public Holiday for Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Early this week, a former chief electoral officer John Babalu has questioned why the national election day of August four has not been declared a public holiday by the Minister for Home Affairs.
Mr Babalu said since the first general election after independence some 30 years ago, all national general elections were held on a public holiday.
