Solomons National Parliament launches new website

Speaker of the Solomon Islands National Parliament, Sir Peter Kenilorea yesterday launched a new website for Parliament at a special event that followed the first sitting of the mid year meeting of Parliament.

Sir Peter noted that the event marked another milestone in the strengthening of Parliament through the UNDP’s Parliamentary Strengthening Project.

He said it is another step towards meeting the information needs of MPs and Solomon Islanders committed to open and accountable government.

Sir Peter acknowledged the support of UNDP and AusAID who have been constant and dedicated supporters of the project.

He also thanked government and all members for their strong commitment to the project.

The website provides a wide range of information regarding parliament and parliamentarians.

It includes information on parliamentary business and procedure, legislation, Hansard reports, as well as information about MPs and the roles and responsibilities of Parliamentary Committees.
