Taiwan medical doctors to Solomon Islands

A Taiwanese hospital will send its second group of specialist doctors to the National Referral hospital in Honiara next month.

Doctors are being sent from Taiwan to Solomon Island under the sister hospital relationship between Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and the National Referral Hospital.

Professor Sheng-hsiung Sheu confirmed this when he welcomed Prime minister Manasseh Sogavare and his delegation to a free medical examination at the Kaoshiung Medical University last week.

The sister hospital relationship agreement was signed in January this year allowing specialists doctors from Taiwan to work at the National Referral hospital and in turn nurses and doctors will do training at the Kaoshiung Medical University.

Professor Sheu says, two doctors and two nurses took up training at the university under the Agreement.

Government Communications Unit quotes the Superintendent of the Kaoshiung Medical University, Professor Sheng as saying the agreement would see National Referral hospital becoming the best in the region.
