To'abaita youth off to Vietnam under the wings of SMEC to represent SI at the Asia Pacific InforDev Workshop

A To'abaita youth, Mr Francis Solo (pictured) of Darawarau Village in North Malaita who is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Small & Medium Enterprises Council of Solomon Islands (SMEC) has left Honiara yesterday enroute to Hanoi, to represent the private sector in Solomon Islands at the Asia Pacific Infordev (Information for Development) Incubators Workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This workshop is aimed at gathering all the representatives of private sector organizations both in Asia and the Pacific will be meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam 3-6 October 2007.

The Pacific Islands private sector organizations and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) will also be represented at this workshop.

Small & Medium Enterprises Council (SMEC) attendance at this workshop is vital as the Council will open its first Incubator (Small Business Development Centre – SBDC) next month in Auki, Malaita Province.

This Incubator will provide services that would enhance SME development throughout the province.
