West Baelelea Chiefs disappointed over exclusion from Malaita Reconciliation Summit

Chiefs in West Mbaelelea area of Northwest Malaita Province are concerned that they've been excluded from the Malaita Reconciliation summit.

Secretary of Arao House of chiefs John Sukina'a says that although the need to have reconciliation amongst communities is an important component for the sustainability of peace, each ward of the province should be represented.

Mr Sukina'a says many of the victims of the ethnic tension are people from Mbaelelea who were chased out of Gadalcanal and they want their story to be told.

He says the Malaita reconciliation office should have picked one chief out of every ward of the province as well as members of various house of chiefs in the province.

Mr Sukina'a says the government should not use money as an excuse not to include all the chiefs in the summit because peace is important for the development of the country.

The summit for Malaita leaders should have started yesterday and ends today.
