Solomon student in Vanuatu dies after being attacked near a Port Vila night club
The Solomon Islands Law Students Association (SILSA) at Emalus Campus in Vanuatu, yesterday mourned the untimely passing away of one of their new students, Late Paul Sokoiasi.
Reports from Port Vila says he was attacked by a group of men outside the Club Vanuatu in the early hours of Saturday morning. He sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Vila Hospital by the Police.
It is understood that when he was brought to the hospital, his condition was critical. The doctors had tried their best to save his life but failed because of the malfunctioning of the brain. He was admitted until yesterday afternoon, around 5:25pm, when he was pronounced dead.
His body is still at the Vila Hospital awaiting flight arrangement to fly him back to Honiara.
It is reported that the late Paul Sokoiasi is a new student from Are Are in Malaita who arrived just two weeks ago to begin law studies in semester two. Police investigations are known to be continuing into the events of his untimely death.
