SI Parliament Speaker seeks legal advice on Haomae's no confidence motion
The motion was served by South Malaita MP, William Haomae, hours after the east Are'Are MP, Edward Huni'ehu's no confidence motion in the Prime Minister was withdrawn.
Sir Peter confirms that his office received notice of Mr Haomae's motion, but his initial view is the motion may be out of order.
Sir Peter says he is seeking legal clarification from legal officers in Parliament on a matter in which Mr Haomae and himself were summoned over an earlier no confidence motion in the Prime Minister last February.
He says legal questions over Mr Haomae's motion then are pending declaratory orders from the High Court.
Sir Peter says this is different from Mr Huni'ehu's motion last week which he allowed to be moved.
He says Mr Huni'ehu's motion was put on notice before summons were being filed in court and he was of the view that the plaintiffs were using the court process to interfere with parliamentary proceedings
