Government to conduct Constitutional Congress Induction workshop next week

The Constitutional Reform Unit in the Office of the Solomons' Prime Minister and Cabinet will hold a Constitutional Congress Induction Workshop starting Monday next week.

The Government Communication Unit says the Induction Workshop is convened for Constitutional Congress members and will bring together more than 50 participants.

They will include two provincial nominees from each of the provinces, including the Honiara City Council as well as national nominees and the Elders Advisory Group.

According to Reginald Teutao of the Constitutional Reform Unit, the workshop is going to be one of the biggest gatherings ever in the country since Independence.

He says the Induction programme is to prepare a Constitutional Congress as well as the Elders Advisory Group for the task of constitutional making which will come after the Induction Workshop.

The five-day workshop takes place at the Mendana Hotel.
