USP Solomon students' tsunami appeal fundraising committee hopes to release report of funds raised by end of this week

The Solomon Islands tsunami appeal fundraising committee at the University of the South Pacific in Suva are expected to release a final report of funds raised during the dinner and cultural entertainment on April 21 by end of this week.

According to a member of the committee, the slight delay in finalising the figures is attributed to reimbursing the costs incurred for catering during the dinner coupled with finalisation of certain pledges and the group's bank account, which should be completed before the end of this week.

However, unofficial reports revealed that the committee is targeting a net amount of around FJD$20,000 equivalent to $80 thousand Solomon dollars based on the current exchange rate.

It is understood once this amount has been finalised, the committee will forward the funds on behalf of the Solomon Islands Student Association (SISA) in Suva to respective authorities in Honiara, as SISA's contribution to aid in the rehabilitation work in Western and Choiseul provinces.
