Solomons PM says he is willing to deport Moti only if there's fresh evidence
Mr Sogavare is expected to appoint Julian Moti as Attorney General this week but the move is facing growing resistance from civil society groups including the National Council of Women, Transparency Solomon Islands and the parliamentary opposition wing.
Moti is wanted for extradition by Australian authorities on alleged child sex charges. But Mr Sogavare says the campaign to get Moti back to Australia is nothing but political persecution.
"If there are fresh evidence that this man is a criminal I will be the first one to put him on a plane, right now I don't have any reasons what so ever its just basically political persecution."
