Solomons delegation visiting fisheries projects in PNG

A Solomon Islands government delegation is in Papua New Guinea to learn more about the developments that have taken place in the PNG fishing industry.

The group headed by the Minister of Finance Gordon Darcy arrived yesterday for talks with the Papua New Guinea Government and fishing companies.

The delegation will travel to Madang and Wewak in the next two days and then to Port Moresby for talks with Fisheries Minister Ben Semri and officials from the National Fisheries Authority.

While in Lae, the team will visit the International Food Corporation and Frabelle (PNG) Ltd tuna canning and loining processing plant.

Tomorrow, the team will visit the RD Tuna cannery in Madang and then travel to East Sepik on Thursday to visit the fish processing activities in Wewak.

Solomons High Commissioner to PNG Mr Benard Bata'anisia said the purpose of the visit is to see the various developments with regards to tuna and fisheries industries in the country which Solomon Islands is interested to pursue for its own people.
