University of the South Pacific's regional campuses to get ICT boost

The University of the South Pacific's push to improve its information and communications technology (ICT) links with its 12 regional campuses outside Fiji has won support from the World Bank.

The World Bank's Global Learning Network, an initiative of former Bank President, James Wolfensohn, will help upgrade USP regional Campuses into facilities that can be used by the whole community. This means that the Solomon Islands Campus in Honiara will also be a direct beneficiary of this ICT upgradation.

The new project has the backing of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and will be led and directed by the university.

It is understood the university Pro-Chancellor, Fiame Naomi Mata'afa, is in Sydney for the World Bank's first meeting on the joint project.
