RAMSI prepares Malaita community for hundreds of arrests
The commander of the RAMSI's participating police force in Solomon Islands, Will Jamieson, says police are preparing to execute 250 outstanding warrants in Malaita.
He told Malaitan leaders this week that a series of consultation meetings will be held with the communities in Malaita to clarify the processes of a warrant of arrest.
He says the community must be made aware of all the relevant issues because any misunderstanding will cause problems.
Mr Jamieson is expecting a negative reaction when some of the warrants are executed but he says it is a legal process the police must enforce.
It is understood that the warrants include one for Edmund Sae who is suspected of murdering former police commander Sir Frederick Soaki.
