Julian Moti not on payroll despite enjoying other government benefits

It was revealed this morning by Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare during the first seating of Parliament that suspended Attorney General Julian Moti is not receiving any pay during his suspension.

Mr Sogavare revealed this in Parliament while answering questions relating to Mr Moti.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the government is meeting other expenses of the suspended Attorney General while a case challenging his suspension is pending before the court.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader, Fred Fono has expressed concern that the government has spent about 50-thousand dollars in meeting other expenses for Moti for November and December last year.

Mr Fono says this is expensive and he suggests that a residence is found for him to reduce cost, until the court decides on his case.

The Parliament meeting has adjourned until tomorrow morning.
