Solomon Islanders lead the Golden Boot tally in New Zealand Football Championship

Three Solomon Islands national soccer players are currently leading the tally for the highest number of goals scored in the New Zealand Football Championship for the 2006-2007 season.

Topping the golden boot hunt is Benjamin Totori with a clear 16 goals in just 12 matches surpassing last season's golden boot winner who only had five goals under his sleeve. Benjamin Totori is a prominent youth player for Solomon Islands and is currently playing as a lethal striker for YoungHeart Manawatu. Pundits and sports experts have already indicated that he is one of the hottest property in soccer in the oceania region and if he maintains his current form then he could make his way into professional football.

Coming second on the golden boot tally is another prominent player, Mr Henry Jnr Faarodo who has a total of six goals in 12 matches. Mr Faarodo is a regular in the Solomon Islands national soccer team and is currently playing as a striker and midfielder for the Canterbury United soccer club.

Closing in on third spot along with another two players, is Solomons elusive striker Commins Menapi who has a total of five goals in 12 matches. Mr Menapi is well known and one of the most feared strikers in the oceania region for his quick scoring abilities. he is currently playing as a striker for championship leaders Waitakere United.
