MSG Foreign Ministers to discuss Fiji situtaion in Honiara

Solomon Islands will host a special Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Foreign Ministers Meeting in Honiara this week.

The meeting will be held in Honiara on Friday this week and will focus on the situation in Fiji. It is understood the meeting is a follow up of the special MSG Senior Officials Meeting held in Suva, Fiji on 22 December 2006.

Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Bernard Bata’anisia confirmed that arrangements are in place for the Ministers Meeting.

Preceding the MSG Foreign Ministers Meeting will be the MSG Senior Officials Meeting which will be convened tomorrow.

“The Senior Officials Meeting will discuss the outcome of the special Senior Officials Meeting held in Suva, Fiji in December last year as well as to discuss the Agenda of the Foreign Ministers Meeting on Friday,” Mr Bata’anisia said.

MSG senior officials have arrived in the country for the meeting which will begin tomorrow. The MSG Foreign Ministers Meeting is expected to be attended by Foreign Ministers and senior Government officials from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.
