North Malaita youth leader calls for cooperation
Leader of a youth group in North Malaita, Redley Ramo says recent thefts of a yacht in the Bita'ama Harbour is an example of criminal and anti-social behaviour youths will turn to, if they are not engaged in income generating activities.
While condemning the incident, Mr Ramo says leaders including the government should not only give lip service but show their concerns about youth welfare through actions.
He says the incident links to other problems youths are facing including illiteracy, unemployed and isolation by their families, churches and communities.
Mr Ramo says youth-related activities should be a priority in the government's rural development policy to make sure youth potentials are used.
