Solomon Islands Student Association (SISA) at USP has a new Executive

The Solomon Islands Student Association (SISA) at the University of the South Pacific's Laucala Campus in Suva has elected a new executive yesterday.

New SISA Executive Officers were elected after yesterday's one-day election process at the university. The student association is expected to convene a hand over meeting shortly whereby files and documents from the old executive, which was led by Mr Douglas Ete, to be transferred to the new executive officers.

The new SISA executive members are: President is Stephen Maesiola, Vice President is
Mary Tavava, Secretary Matilda Dani whilst Millisidy Qaqara settled for the Treasurer's post after being unopposed.

Statistical results released by the SISA Elections Returning Officer, Mr Augustine Bata'anisia showed that from the 492 registered student voters, about 327 students casted their votes. There were no invalid ballot papers.

According to Mr Bata'anisia, the election yesterday started off well in the morning and ran smoothly until evening. He also stated the the voter turn out in this election was higher than last year's election and the fact that there no invalid ballot papers clearly shows good planning, design and awareness that his team has initiated to make this election a success.
