North Malaita MP calls for investigation into Moti's illegal entry into Solomon Islands

The Office of Independent members of Parliament is calling for the immediate establishment of a Commission of Inquiry into the alleged illegal flight into Solomon Islands by Julian Moti.

The leader of the office and North Malaita parliamentarian, Enele Kwanairara, says the country's laws have been violated by people entering Solomon Islands without passports and other legal travel documents.

He says the office is also alarmed that a plane flew into Solomon Islands without Aviation Authority Clearance and approval.

Mr Kwanairara says the situation has reached a stage where Solomon Islands laws are being violated and a serious precedence is being created. He says in other countries illegal entry would mean immediate arrest and imprisonment because it is a serious violation of the law.

Mr Kwanairara says Solomon Islands cannot be run by people who ignore the laws for personal interest.
