Coconut Oil Producers form Association

Virgin Coconut Oil producers now have an Association. It is called the "Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Producers Association, COVCOPA, which was formed during a producers conference last week in Honiara.

The conference was held in conjunction with Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands Limited, the principal buyer and introducer of the technology.

Thirty five producers from 5 islands, gathered to discuss and learn more about the new and growing industry.

The conference was supported by the European Union Micro Projects.

Guest speakers include officers from the Department of Agriculture, National Planning and Kokonut Pacific of Australia which manages the international marketing of the oi.

The other activities included discussion sessions on topics such as quality control, money management, bi- products, bio fuels and staff management.
