Tree farmers in North Malaita attended re-forestation course

About 30 tree farmers in North Malaita have completed a week-long re-forestation course recently at Lobo community centre in North Malaita.

SIBC's North Malaita Correspondent John Kiri says the course was organised for farmers who have started and those interested in planting trees on their land.

The aim of the course was to teach farmers how to manage and to produce high quality trees for timber exports in the future.

Topics covered include land use planning, tree nursery and marketing information.

Tree farmers who have attended the one week course are from Kwainakiu to Afufu village in North Malaita.

The course was conducted by the Forestry Extension Officer North Malaita, Salome Dora'ania.
