PMO denies Sogavare's threat to sack Ministers if they fail to resign

The Prime Minister's Office has denied reports that the Prime minister has given an ultimatum to three of his cabinet ministers to resign by 3pm yesterday or face being sacked.

But one of the ministers have told SIBC News yesterday that he and two others have been given letters last night asking them to resign over issues he describes as petty.

He says one of the issues is the Taiwan and Mainland China, but he would not say more on that issue.

He also says the Prime minister Manasseh Sogavare may have listened to advice from outside.

The minister had indicated that they would iron out the issues in a meeting yesterday between some ministers and leaders of political parties which make up the grand Coalition for Change government.

Reliable sources also cited under performance and undermining of government decisions as reasons given by the Prime Minister.

Efforts by SIBC news to talk to the Prime Minister about the reports were not successful.

But, deputy secretary to the Prime Minister Rence Sore has told SIBC News the reports were not true.

He said he was not aware of letters said to have been given to the ministers last night, asking them to resign.
