Malaita's strategic plan for 2007-2017 ready for launching

The final Malaita provincial government’s Iumi Tugeta Bildim Malaita - Malaita Province Strategic Plan 2007-2017 will be launched on Tuesday next week during Malaita Day.

Malaita premier Reuben Moli said this following the conclusion of his government’s four community consultation on the draft strategic plan at Fiu yesterday. Mr Moli said the information gathered from the consultation process in the four regions of Malaita over the last few weeks will be compiled into the final plan.

“The debate at the workshop has been vigorous and lively, and many excellent suggestions have been made which will be included in the final document. My government and I have been particularly impressed by the way the participants have grasped the difficult issues which are facing our province at the moment, and the determination with which they have looked for ways forward,” Mr Moli said.

However, he warned that for Malaita Province to move forward there must be partnership. “The ability of Malaita Province to take responsibility for its own human and economic development rests on the shoulders of the people, and the people have shown themselves well able to take up the challenge,” he said.
