Fataleka Chief reiterates call for RAMSI to remain
A chief from Fataleka John Ini says any move to alter or shorten the presence of RAMSI in Solomon Islands must carefully weigh entrenched hatred among certain groups in the country.
He says a clear example is the employment of people from certain provinces only in some of the projects on Guadalcanal, which indicates that there are still misgivings and untrustworthiness within the society.
Mr Ini says the situation in Solomon Islands is not yet normal and for RAMSI to return home, only to be called in the not too distant future will be very expensive and unnecessary.
He says this will result in regional countries reluctant to be part of any regional mission such as that of RAMSI.
He says RAMSI should remain in the country as long as there are works to be done in the many sectors of the society including the government.
Mr Ini says many ordinary Solomon Islanders want RAMSI to remain in the country.
